Akua Serwaa Bonsu is a Germany-based Ghanaian gospel musician who has been in the gospel industry for more than three decades. She is known for hit songs like Nsamerane, Noah Nna No and Ebeye Yie. Early life and music career Akua Serwaa Bonsu was born in Kumasi. She started her music career from New-Suame in Kumasi as a band singer in a band called the Pentecost Fire Band. The Pentecost Fire Band was known for popular household Christian songs like; “Ma me ndere se Ogya”, "Onyame ba, yeyi waye daa, wo nnea woye ma yen daa nyinaa nti, begye wayeyi ”, among many others. Akua Serwaah Bonsu ministered in several other gospel bands and even non-gospel ones from the 1980s through to the early 1990s where she started as a backup singer for musicians like Nana Tuffour, Oheneba Kissi, Osei Vasco, and many several others. During this same time is when she made song collaborations with several musicians in Ghana including the legendary K K Kabobo in his popular “Onyame Ehu wo” album. The album spawned hits like Beye Wo Anwanwa Adwuma, Edin No Jesus and the title track. She came to the limelight in 1999 with the release of her hit album titled “Nsamerane”, produced by the late sound engineer extraordinaire, Bodo Staiger in Germany. Her “Ebeyeyie” and “Anadwo Dasuo mu” albums followed in the late 2000s. Musical comeback After a long hiatus from music, she made a comeback in 2020 with the release of the single, "Hu Yen Mmobo", which was produced by Holland-based Ghanaian producer, Kweku Mensah. "Hu Yen Mmobo" is the lead single of her upcoming fifth studio album, expected to be released in 2021. In February 2021 released "Yensom No Yie", the second single from that album. Personal life Akua Serwaa is currently based in Duisburg, Germany, where she lives with her husband, Michael Osei Bonsu and her five children.
