Aku Soku Zan

Kill Evil Instantly (悪�斬) is what it roughly translates into plain English. A phrase from Japanese manga Rurouni Kenshin. This is a fictional philosophy, and the real-life Shinsengumi were not known to hold such views. In Fiction Aku Soku Zan is used in the anime Rurouni Kenshin. It is the 'brand of justice' that becomes 's trademark and that he upholds to an absolute power. He believes that anyone guilty of corruption, or those that would bring harm to the people of Japan and the nation itself, should be slain. With his trusty katana, whom he says that even without a name it has slain countless times and he trusts it above all, and Shinsengumi's Gatotsu, he is more than ready to deliver, as shown with Uonoma Usui, of the Juppongatana. Cultural references In the 2000 International Obfuscated C Code Contest(IOCCC), Don Yang's entry consisted of a program that was an ASCII art form of Hajime Saito's head from Ruroni Kenshin. Compiling and running this program gave Aku in Hiragana in outline ASCII form, recompiling the output gave Soku and in turn compiling the new output gave Zan.
