Airliners International is an annual convention of civil aviation enthusiasts held each year in a different US or Canadian city. Held every year since 1977, the convention draws upwards of 1500 guests annually. History Airliners International got its start in 1977 in Cincinnati, Ohio. The then two-year-old World Airline Hobby Club, founded by Chesapeake and Ohio Railway worker Paul Collins, decided to hold an gathering at a hotel adjacent to Cincinnati Airport. Another club of aviation enthusiasts in Toronto, Ontario, was invited to the gathering. The club held another gathering the following year, this time in Toronto. Over time the gathering grew and began rotating the location to different cities. It evolved from a one-day to a three-day convention, and now encompasses a three-day trade show, cocktail reception, and Saturday night banquet with a guest speaker, often someone with a connection to the host city's aviation industry. Tours are often given to many of the city's aviation attractions, such as maintenance bases, scrapyards, and airport tours. Many companies with connections to the aviation collectibles industry, such as GeminiJets, Atlantic Models and California Wing Specialties use Airliners International as a way to announce or debut new products.
