Agent Moosehead is a Philadelphia based musical fusion-group that performs a hybrid style featuring jazz and progressive rock themes. The group has four core members; Chris Dippolito (composer, guitar), Pete Dippolito (bass guitar), Jon McNally (drums, percussion) & John Briley (Fender Rhodes, Hohner D6 Clavinet and Moog synthesizer) and the group is typically accompanied by Dan Peterson (soprano saxophone, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, bass clarinet) and Tom Madeja (trumpet, flugelhorn). Recently, Agent Moosehead has also been joined by Anthony Triplett (bass trombone) and Bart Miltenberger (trumpet). The majority of Agent Moosehead’s original songs are instrumental, and feature heavily composed sections that are inner spliced with improvisational components. The music is primarily written by guitarist, Chris Dippolito, who has been inspired heavily by musicians such as Frank Zappa and John Coltrane and groups like King Crimson and Mahavishnu Orchestra. Nintendo music has also played a decidedly influential factor in the music of Agent Moosehead, and as a result, fans of the cult ‘video game music scene’ have embraced the group. Collaborations & Special Projects Agent Moosehead’s live performances have known to include guest musicians who sit in and contribute their own unique elements to the improvisational spirit of the music. Past collaborations have included Frank Zappa percussionist and vibist: Ed Mann as well as Philadelphia poet and jazz enthusiast: Elliott Levin. Agent Moosehead has also shared the stage with such performers as King Crimson bassist: Tony Levin, The Paul Green School of Rock Music, Husky Rescue, Philadelphia Slick, DJ Logic, Deep Banana Blackout, Nomo and many others. In the past Agent Moosehead has surprised and delighted audiences with "theme shows" including live performances featuring Nintendo Music, TV show theme songs and the music of Frank Zappa, They Might Be Giants, Primus and The Talking Heads among other surprise covers. Other area performances have included the Philabundance Organization (National Hunger Awareness Campaign) & performing as a featured headliner at Philly’s world-famous Love Park. 2007 brought the release of their much anticipated debut CD, Neil, Throw the Switch!, and following its release, Agent Moosehead was selected as one of 6 finalists out of over 100 bands, and subsequently placed third in the 2nd annual Philly Sound Clash in February 2008 and was featured on their 2nd Edition of "Music to Drive By" (found in all PhillyCarShare vehicles).
