AgencySpy

AgencySpy is one of the blogs in the Mediabistro.com blog network. The blog was founded in June 2007 and was launched by an anonymous writer who goes by the moniker Super Spy. The blog added a second writer in March 2008 named Down Low. The blog covers advertising industry gossip, campaigns, news and provides commentary.

The blog is notable for its involvement in the death of advertising executive Paul Tilley formerly of Chicago advertising agency DDB. On February 19, 2008, the blog posted
a critical entry about Tilley's new mantra for his office, "One Degree More." On Febrauary 24th, Mr. Tilley committed suicide. Many in the blogosphere blamed
the blog's harsh comments for Tilley's decision to suicide. The original entry, along with a R.I.P post dated February 24th was slammed with comments from
readers, friends and family. Some accusing the blog of murder, as well as being irresponsible. Others defended the blog and the original post, as well as citing Tilley's person problems. Main stream media picked up the controversy resulting in media mentions, as well as New York Times article by Bob Tedeschi in which another blogger involved in the scandal, George Parker, as well as a prominent advertising executive, Nina Disea of McCann Erickson were quoted. The article goes on to discuss the responsibility of
bloggers in general and the notion of anonymous bloggers.
