African Globe Theatre Works is a non-profit professional, independent theatre company Newark, New Jersey, United States established to produce an annual season of plays by and about people of African descent.The goal, according to Kabu Okai-Davies, founder and executive producer, is to cultivate the diverse interests of a multi-cultural American audience by sharing and experiencing the cultural, artistic and literary heritage of people of African descent. The company originally performed at the Newark Symphony Hall, and has since developed it own center on McCarter Highway in The Coast Section of the city nearby. African Globe is a non-profit performing arts organization established by creative artists to empower the creative process with the synergy of African and African American culture through theatrical productions, touring programs and artistic training. Its programs help cultivate poets, playwrights, dancers and artisans within the local and extended community.
