Adminsoft Accounts is an accounting software package, developed by Mike Towle. First released on 28th December 2006 (v3.062), Adminsoft Accounts is a free software free to use, strand alone, double entry accounting software. Initially developed using Microsoft Visual FoxPro 6.0, it would run under all PC versions of Windows from Windows 95 onwards. From 22nd October 2010 (v3.219) it used Visual FoxPro 7.0. Then from 19th March 2011 (v4.000) it used Visual FoxPro 9.0. While Visual FoxPro 9.0 allowed the software to perform better and helped to give more up-to-date look, it also meant that it could no longer run on Windows 95 or NT 4.0. However, older versions of the software are made available for download on Adminsoft’s web site. These allow users to go back quite far back on old Microsoft Windows versions. History The software has been developed entirely by Michael Towle, who started developing Adminsoft Accounts in June 2003. The intention initially was to sell the software. However, by late 2006 Michael created a web site and made the software available for free download without any catch or restrictions. So far, to August 2011, the recorded download of the application stands at 70,000, by software users across the world. Adminsoft Accounts software is unique in the sense that *it has received acknowledgement by the International Association of Bookkeepers and the International Association of Accounting Profesionals. It expands, "Together with the related software, Adminsoft Accounts, this book (see below a reference to the independently published book by Skylark Publications UK) is acknowledged by the IAB and IAAP to be a useful and cost effective tool in the pursuit of efficient financial management.
