ACFR conductor

ACFR stands for Aluminum Conductor Fiber Reinforced which is one of High Temperature Low Sag ( HTLS ) overhead power line conductor. ACFR use CFCC ( Carbon Fiber Composite Cable ) core and trapezoidal aluminum wire. CFCC was developed in 1980s and started to manufacture from 1990s. Initially CFCC were used for civil engineering industry as reinforcement of PC bridge. ACFR's first installation collaborating with conductor manufacture was around 2002 in Japan. Now ACFR were used mainly in east Asian countries.
ACFR can reduce transmission loss or increase transmission capacity keeping the thermal sag and conductor weight compared to conventional aluminium-conductor steel-reinforced cable (ACSR)conductor.
