Academy hill is a portion of land located in Los Angeles County, California and is the location of Chadwick School. History Academy hill was created in 1937 when the Vanderlip family donated the land to Chadwick School. The school which had previously been located in San Pedro opened in 1938. Many decades later Chadwick sold off lower portions of the land to private developers who built row houses on the land as a well as a business park on the lowest part. Academy Hill is one of two areas in Palos Verdes that is not incorporated and is therefore one of the few place in Palos Verdes where streetlights can be found.
