Abrar Mir

Abrar Mir is a businessman and investor. He is the co-Founder and Managing Partner of Quadria Capital, Asia's leading healthcare private equity firm. He is also co-founder of HealthQuad, India's largest healthcare venture capital firm. He is British and mainly lives in Singapore.
Early life and education
Mir grew up in London and attended the Heathland School in West London. He graduated from with a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) in International Law.
Career
Mir started his career at international law firm, CMS Cameron McKenna's London office as a trainee solicitor in its corporate finance practice. In 1995, he joined Salomon Smith Barney (later Citigroup's) London and New York offices in its healthcare investment banking division. In 2002, Mir joined as Managing Director in Bank of America Merrill Lynch's healthcare investment banking division based in London, where he was responsible for building the bank's European and Emerging Markets healthcare franchise.
Mir later moved from London to Singapore to join global emerging markets focused financial institution, Religare Capital Markets, as Global Head of Healthcare Investment Banking. There, he was responsible for building the firm's healthcare investment banking and principal investment franchises across emerging markets, including South and Southeast Asia. The firm has grown into Asia's largest healthcare focused private equity firm with US $2.9 billion of assets under management, with over 27 portfolio companies and over 15,000 employees across Asia.
Quadria Capital's mission is to democratise access to healthcare by investing in large, scalable healthcare platforms that have the potential of creating sustainable social impact and generating superior economic returns. The firm has consistently achieved top quartile investment returns across its various funds and continues to touch millions of lives each year.
Quadria Capital's global investor base comprises sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, institutional investors, healthcare corporates and development finance institutions such as the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the German Investment Corporation (DEG) and the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) .
Mir is also the co-founder of HealthQuad, India's leading venture capital firm. The firm's mission is to nurture innovative business models which transform healthcare in India and make an inclusive impact on society.
Mir currently serves on the boards of Quadria Capital Investment Management, HealthQuad, Medica Synergie, Soho Global Health, FV Hospitals, Royal Healthcare, Lablink Berhard, Encube Ethicals and Con Cung Corporation.
Social impact and Awards
Mir is a strong advocate of responsible investing and, in particular, of bringing high quality healthcare at an affordable price to those that are most vulnerable. He regularly speaks at impact investing conferences and is leading a study on effective, scalable business models for low cost healthcare delivery and how these can be adapted across various developing countries. Quadria Capital is a key contributer and pioneer signatory to the IFC's Ethical Principles in Healthcare (EPIHC) and co-founder of the first global intitative for Healthcare Impact Investors.
Mir was awarded Healthcare Investor of the Year 2019 by HealthInvestor Asia. In 2020, Quadria Capital was awarded the Most Innovative Deal Award by Asian Asset Awards for structuring the first Sustainability Linked Capital Call Facility.
