51Give is an organization that allows people to lend money via the Internet to individuals and small businesses in China. It is a social venture headquartered in Beijing. 51Give provides a carbon-friendly microfinance platform with new generation internet and mobile technologies, which connects individuals, international companies / institutions and local financial institutions. How it works 51Give allows microfinance institutions around China or "field partners", to post profiles of qualified local entrepreneurs on its website. Lenders browse and choose an entrepreneur they wish to fund. 51Give aggregates loan capital from individual lenders and transfers it to the appropriate Field Partners to disburse to the entrepreneur chosen by the lender. As the entrepreneurs repay their loans, the Field Partners remit funds back to 51Give. As the loan is repaid, 51Give lenders can withdraw their principal or re-loan it to another entrepreneur. Rural Microfinance 51Give supports carbon-friendly developments, such as green loans which are loans to businesses that take the environment into account and directly focus on contributing to better use or protecting of the environment. 51Give favours loans in the field of renewable energies such as biogas or wind power. 51Give's partner is China's first Microfinance Institution (MFI), Funding the Poor Cooperative, established in Beijing and running projects in Hebei, Henan and Sichuan provinces. Organization and team 51Give was founded in October 2007 by Daniel Foa and Hiu Ng and is a registered Hong Kong Limited Company. 51Give is run by a team with experience in microfinance and technology. 51Sim 51Give partnered with Camco, New Postcom, and Clear World Energy to create 51SIM (Chinese: 51) a Corporate Social Responsibility alliance/charity organization also based in Beijing. 51Sim provides platforms at the national (China), regional (Asia) and global levels for leading social innovators that highlight social entrepreneurship as a key element to address social and ecological problems in an innovative, sustainable and effective way. The organisation works with governments, companies, not-for-profit organizations and community groups to effectively transform broad social issues in China by supporting the design and implementation of new and more effective approaches to tackle environmental and sustainable issues in China. 51Sim organizes events to bring together people interested in making social changes and encourage them to interact with one another to collaborate on ideas and solutions to address the growing environmental problems facing China and the rest of the world.
