2008 English Big Four Clubs

Over the years, English football is dominated by four clubs. Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United( Man U). In 2008, these clubs tore up the Premier League. Not only, they also perticipate in the League cup, FA cup, and UEFA Champions league. BUt there were no League cup meetings this year. Only one of these four teams really dominated the others. It was Man U.

Premier League

It was a huge year in the Premier League. The first fixture between them was late September,2007. Man U
defeated Chelsea 2-0 with goals from Carlos Tevez and Louis Saha. Then in October 2007 it was Liverpool vs Arsenal. After 7 minutes, Liverpool led with a freekick from Steven Gerrard. Then Cesc Fabregas struck with 10 miutes left. It finished 1-1. Early November, it was Arsenal vs Man U. The scorers were Rooney, Fabregas, Ronaldo, and Gallas. It finished 2-2. Then Chelsea beat Liverpool 1-0. In December, Arsenal faced Chelsea, a team they hadn't beat since 2004. Gallas struck before halftime against his old club, and Arsenal won 1-0. Man U beat Liverpool 1-0 the same day thanks to Carlos Tevez. It then wouldn't be for a while that they faced again. The next fixture was Chelsea vs Liverpool, witch finished 0-0. Then, in March,Chelsea vs Arsenal. Bacary Sagna gave Asrenal the lead, only for Drogba to score twice to beat Arsenal. Final score Chelsea 2-1 Arsenal. Man U beat Liverpool 3-0 that day. Arsenal and Liverpool then tied 1-1 again. In April, it was Man U vs Arsenal. Adebayor gave Arsenal the lead,then Ronaldo scored a Penalty Shot and Hargreaves scored a freekick. Man U took it 2-1. Then Chelsea faced Manu very late in the season. Ballack gave Chelsea the lead only for Rooney to equalize. But 5 minutes from time, Ballack scored again. Chelsea won 2-1.

But Man U held on to win the Premier League.

FA cup

Man U met Arsenal in the FA cup in Febuary. Arsenal had many injuries. Man U took it 4-0.

Champions League

Asrenal met Liverpool in the Quarter Finals. with five minutes left. It was 2-2 and Arsenal were going through. But the ref ordered a penalty and Liverpool took it. Then Babel scored in injury time. Liverpool won 4-2. Then Liverpool faced Chelsea. CHelsea took it 3-2 in extra time. The final was Man U vs Chelsea. It finished 1-1. In the shootout, Van Der Sar saved from Nicolas Anelka. Man U also took the Champions League.
