12th Cork Scout Troop

The 12th Cork Scout Troop is a multidenominational scout troop in Cork city centre, in the Republic of Ireland. The troop was established in 1943 as part of the ST Patrick's Catholic Boy Scouts Unit. From then and up until December 31 2003 the troop was part of the Catholic Scouts of Ireland. The organisation has since merged with Scouting Ireland S.A.I. to form Scouting Ireland. Since 1943 the Troops headquarters has been at 'The Hut, Summerhill North Cork. Throughout the past 65 years the troop has had many successes including 2 Melvin wins in the 1960's. Presently the Troop caters for 24-28 boys. By using a dicerse yet traditional program the troop has helped young boys from the ages of 10-16 develop their skills in an non political out of school educational movement.
